Trips & Outings
Various trips and outings are arranged here at PHEW. Our guests can choose to stay at PHEW or go on an outing, it’s entirely up to the individual.
We regularly take guests bowling, to the cinema, pub for lunch, picnic in the park, shopping, visit the Kelpies, trip on the Falkirk Wheel, visit museums or go trips to the theatre.
If a guest wishes to attend a local church service during their stay, we will try and accommodate this.
We actively encourage guests to suggest places to go or things they would like to do.
Activities & Entertainment
Guests continue to enjoy a wide range of activities that have been available to them both within the Short Breaks Centre and in the community including the Sensory Room, Games Room, Hydro Pool; in-house karaoke nights, Zumba and discos; visits out to local shops, cafes, pubs, bowling, cinema, picnics in the park, museums, pantomimes and nights out at the theatre; participation in arts & crafts workshops and days away on the very popular trips on the Union Canal barges. Guests have also been involved with some staff in artistically enhancing one of the corridor walls with the addition of colourful tree motifs and also in designing the new Cinema Room.
Time Share
Our time share in Loch Lomond continues to be popular with guests, and the guests who have already holidayed there are keen to repeat the experience and there continues to be requests from guests who have not yet had the opportunity to go.
Ten years ago we were awarded funding for a mini-bus and this iconic green bus proved invaluable to Phew as it enabled us to takes guests out together and engage them in many different activities both locally and further afield. We were delighted to be chosen again last year to receive funding for a new bus. We received delivery of the new bus at the end of April and the formal presentation from The Lord Taverners was made during our Summer Open Day 2015.
